What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS is a group of symptoms that are not consistent and not traceable to a single cause.
The reason we call it a syndrome is as a result of us as an adverse society, we haven’t come up with a specific reason as to why IBS occurs and how it can be cured.
Symptoms include :
- Abdominal Pain
- Sudden changes in bowel habit
- Inability to empty bowel completely in one motion
- Excessive gas
- Urgent need to defecate
- Cramping and discomfort
- Loss or gain of appetite
- Low sexual drive or performance
- Food intolerances and food fears / phobias
Sufferers are always making sure they know where the nearest toilet is. There is also the unspoken challenge of lost time at work.
Reducing the symptoms of IBS
Hypnotherapy is 80% effective in reducing the symptoms of IBS. Work and social time lost to IBS is greatly reduced and in most instances, eliminated.
Sally had suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) for over 30 years. She had tried everything. She felt the doctors thought it was in her head. Whenever she went out of her home, she had to know where the public toilets were which caused her great anxiety. Her husband didn’t understand. She didn’t know what caused an IBS attack. We worked through my IBS program and eight weeks later, Sally knows exactly what triggers her IBS attacks and has worked hard and now has control of her IBS, although she now says “I don’t have IBS.” She hasn’t had an attack in well over a year.
