What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is a debilitating experience that is characterised by feelings of worry, fear of what may happen if…and a constant nagging thought about ‘next time I have to do this’.

When you live like this you are in a constant state of fight or flight and it’s exhausting.

You may notice that you have:

  • Trouble getting to sleep and restless nights
  • Hot sweaty palms when you’re feeling anxious
  • Fast shallow breathing
  • Butterflies in your stomach
  • Racing heart and palpitations

Anxiety and Depression can have similar symptoms, but they are different conditions.

What is Depression?

Depression can feel relentless, like a continual cycle of fatigue, sadness and hopelessness. It can put life on hold, disrupting jobs, family and finances.

You may have depression if you have:

  • Lost interest or pleasure in most activities
  • Feel fatigued but can’t sleep, or sleep excessively
  • Want to avoid social occasions
  • Feel hopeless, worthless and helpless
  • Can’t think clearly or can’t make decisions

Both Anxiety and Depression can only be diagnosed by their symptoms – there is no blood test or other diagnostic tool.

The symptoms can range from relatively minor (yet still disabling) through to very severe.  The definition of Depression tells us NOTHING about the cause of those symptoms.

Hypnosis feels like relaxation, where you remain fully conscious but can completely let go. During your session I’ll be dealing with the boss – your subconscious mind – but throughout you’ll hear everything and be in complete control.
